M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads

M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads

M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads

(OP)
Greetings,

Does anyone have experience with M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads?  I need to cut internal threads in a lens holder for lenses that have the above mentioned threads.  Do you know where I can find a tap for these threads?

Thanks,

-Bryan

RE: M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads

Those numbers do not look right.
That is about 72 threads per inch.

they are correct.  it is a fine thread that controls focus on a cell phone camera sized lens.  I've found an adapter to let me use the M8x.35 lens, but I'm still looking for the M7x.35 tap.

Vielen dank Hahor,

the feingewinde section seems to reference the ISO metric fine thread.  I just received a response from a toolmaker that they have M8x.35 and M7x.35 taps (for >$100 at qty 1 with pretty good volume discounts)
do you happen to know which standard covers such super fine pitch threads?

RE: M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads

dinjin,

It is fairly easy to get a tap for 1/4-80UN.  If M8x0.35 is being used by somebody, there probably are taps available.

   Call some tooling suppliers.

RE: M8 x .35 and M7 x .35 threads

Greeting Bhays,

Can you share the source for the non-standard M8x.35 taps.

We are also trying to fit some M8 x .35 into proto lens holders and need the special M8x.35 tap.

Thanks in advance,

CAD

Hi CAD,
The one place that responded to me with availability is North American Tool Corporation (contact info below).  Apparently, they sell only to industrial distributors, but they offer to put you in touch with one in your area if you don't already have one.
I have never used them before.
