RE: Stainless steel cable with aluminum fastener

hi pqmm,

With the two metals you are planning to use could be some problems.

Before explain some simple way to find out the potential, first have to say that you can only know that there is a problem, not how fast could corrode.

The problem is complex but you can divide it in two steps.

First evaluate the potential.

Follow one of the following examples:
www.corrosion-doctors.org/Definitions/;galvanic-series.htm
www.easternanode.nf.ca/anodic.php

additional information on:
http://www.corrosionsource.com/FreeContent/1/Galvanic+Series

Then with the potential if it is needed, take measures.

The actions could be using isolators (non metallic washers) to avoid contac between bolts, wire, etc. Apply painting, etc. You can find more answers on the pages quoteds.
