HSS moment connection

(OP)
I have a situation where the client wants the design of a HSS end plate moment connection designed in ASD.  It's been difficult to find information on the design of HSS moment connections let alone in ASD.  Is there any design supplement that offers this?  Where can I find information on designing HSS moment connections?  Are there any examples that illustrate the end plate moment design for HSS sections?

RE: HSS moment connection

Although it's not ASD, the AISC Hollow Structural Sections Connections Manual covers various HSS moment connections.  Packer & Henderson's Design Guide for Hollow Structural Section Connections is a good reference.

RE: HSS moment connection

Right on, Taro.

Packer & Handerson is the HSS bible. You could also treat this as a standard end plate moment conn. assuming a wide flange beam of similar size to your HSS. You won't be too far off the mark.

RE: HSS moment connection

The Canadaian Manual of Steel Construction references a 2nd edition of the Packer and Henderson Book.  I have the 1992 edition.  I am just starting a new job with TS frames (equipment). Does anyone know if the 2nd edition has anything significant enough on moment frames to justify its purchase? First time on forum and I am probably asking this in the wrong place.
