If i set the modeling mode on History in customer defaults (see screen shot) and lock this on site level, will this disable the synchronous modeling app?
If not, how can we completely disable the synchronous modeling?

thanks in advance

Michaël.

RE: Customer defaults

You want to disable the user from switching into history free mode (understandable) or disable all synchronous modeling commands (crazy talk)?

RE: Customer defaults

Yes i want AND disable history free mode AND synchronous modeling. We see absolutly no advantage in the this feature, we rather think it is dangerous using this feature because you lose all parameters from a 'normal' feature affected by syn mod.

RE: Customer defaults

If you use the commands in history mode you don't lose any parameters, but the commands may overrule some of your earlier parameters. They are some very powerful and useful commands and need to be handled carefully.

To answer the original question, I don't think you can disable specific commands through customer defaults. Perhaps you could create a custom role that hides all the 'dangerous' commands. Not a perfect solution (the command finder might betray your intentions) but 'out of sight, out of mind' may be beneficial.

RE: Customer defaults

OK, in addition to locking down the 'Mode' in which a Part file is started in Gateway, you can also go to...

Customer Defaults -> Modeling -> General -> Miscellaneous

...and about halfway down the page you will see an item labeled 'Allow Changing to History-Free Modeling Mode'.  Just toggle this OFF in your Site/Group level and lock it out as well.
