High Temp. UT Inspection

High Temp. UT Inspection

(OP)
I have a quick question...does high temp UT inspection require a different or new certification that that of normal UT Inpsection? If anyone could assist me I would really appreciate it or even if someone could guide me in the right direction. Thank you

RE: High Temp. UT Inspection

To my knowledge there are no high temperature limitations on ASNT UT certifications.  There are obvious technique limitations and it must be recognized by the technician that the ultrasonic waves do not act the same under high temperatures as at ambient.  Further, the machine calibration must be done to the temperatures used in testing...I doubt that the NDT company will want their expensive IIW or DSC calibration blocks heated up to high temperatures.
