B31.3 Allowable Porosity

B31.3 Allowable Porosity

B31.3 Allowable Porosity

(OP)
I'm confused over the allowable surface porosity for girth welds in all fluid services.

Table 341.3.2A states that the extent of imperfection allowed is zero, however it also refers to Note 5 (These imperfections are evaluated for welds less than or equal to 3/16" in nominal thickness).

Does this mean that surface porosity is allowed for welds over 3/16" and if so what is the acceptance criteria?

I found the answer to my question - after obtaining a version of B31.3 more current than my 1993 copy.  Note 5 has been removed, surface porosity is not allowed.
