Crane Column Bending

Crane Column Bending

Crane Column Bending

(OP)
I was wondering how others handle bending in crane columns due to eccentric loadings from crane girders.
AIST 13 section 5.9.1 states "the effect of out-of-plane bending of columns due to eccentricity of crane girder reactions (longitudinally eccentricity) shall be included.

I have always taken this to mean that the girder reaction is delivered eccentrically to the column via stiffeners in the girder that usually line up with the column flange. Generally this "e" is have of the column depth as the column web and girder web are usually in the same plane. In new design, this is how I approach it. In reviewing existing, this often kills the column.

How do others handle this?
Am I off base here?
