Can anybody give some information on the welding of 9% Nickel steel

RE: Welding of 9% Nickel

It depends what material configuration you want to weld. Is it pipe, plate?

You certainly have to perform certain preparations before conducting the welding operation.

Starting with a qualified PQR and generating a WPS would be a good start.

There is good information on www.asme.org

I hope that this is of some help,

RE: Welding of 9% Nickel

Hi izamil

I once worked for a company called RC Technical Welding & Fabrication, and a guy there called Raul Cardona (he's the President) but can weld anything to anything.  Have a chat with him at 281-933-6004

RE: Welding of 9% Nickel

needs  PWHT . You havnt said if its pipe  or if its new or old ...the new grades have different welding requirements they have vanadium in them and can be trickier

RE: Welding of 9% Nickel

See the website for NIDI. It has a lot of information on 9% Ni steel welding. Also get in touch with Esab/Lincoln. They have specialized consumables of the type NiCrMo6 for weldoing these alloys.
