15 kV Cable Potheads Replacement by Cable Terminations

15 kV Cable Potheads Replacement by Cable Terminations

(OP)

I have to make inside 15 kV Metal-Clad Cubicles (Cells) Cable Potheads Replacement by Cable Terminations. ( for PILC paper insulated lead shield cables ).

If I cut my cables below potheads - I have only 400-450 mm of cable length.

Can I open my potheads and these parts of conductors inside pothheads provide for my cable termination work ?

I tried to say - that part of paper insulated cable which is inside of pothead can be used for cable termination work or not.

RE: 15 kV Cable Potheads Replacement by Cable Terminations

Is it a compound-filled cable box or an air-insulated terminal box?

If your asking the question:

"Can I take apart a single phase compound filled termination associated with PILC cable and re-terminate"

Probably not very well.  Depending on pothead type and style it may be possible.  Check with your splicer/termination people.

Is it feasible extending the bus to your new (shorter) termination?
