Anyone use solidworks remotely like through remote desktop go to my pc etc?  Just seeing if it's feasible to work from home once and awhile.  My home PC is not beafy enough to run our assemblies and we keep our database of parts on our server.  We don't use any pdm software.

Thanks

RE: remotely use SW

yes i do! I am running into the same situation as you are since I do alot of field work. two things that you have becareful of are the graphics won't be nice, and laggy  performance due to slow internet speed.

Ya I figure it would be laggy but hopefully still doable.  We did some tests here in the office and it wasn't to bad.  Will try at home with PC Anywhere.  Remote desktop didn't work wouldn't refresh the screen fast enough.

RE: remotely use SW

windows RTM is slow because it never use image compression and it is not reliable at all.... but working remotely is perfectly fine as long as you are not doing any rendering work.

Try TeamViewer or LogMeIn

Our IT guy mentioned teamviewer.  Will try PCanywhere to see how it goes and go from there.

Thanks all.

RE: remotely use SW

teamviewer will benefit you by bypassing all the hassle when dealing with firewall connections. it free to try anyways, good luck.

Couldn't get PCanywhere to connect at home.  Probably had a setting wrong.  I will talk to our IT guy next time he is in about using teamviewer.
