Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

(OP)
Apologies if this has been covered before, but it's driving me nuts!

I've had this in several different drawings (but not all). It goes like this:

- Make drawing.
- Balloon parts (amongst other things) using arrow heads on the lines as requested (I direct them to a point or line on the part)
- Complete the drawing and close it
- Open at a later date to print and the arrow heads on the balloons have jumped into spots

It's not only time consuming but annoying having to check for this every time I open a drawing to print it. Is this just another glitch, or is there a method to cure it?

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

I've seen what sounds like a similar situation with notes for threaded holes being way off in a corner upon opening a drawing, but I have not had the balloons moving around as you describe.  However, once I hit Ctrl-Q the notes go back to the spot I left them when last saving and closing the drawing.  Ctrl-Q might also make your 'floating balloons' (pun intended) go back to their tethered positions.

Wizard. I'll give that a shot. It's very odd... happens in exactly the same way even if I delete the offending balloon and re-insert it. Little swine.

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

Are you talking about the arrowheads moving to another location, or the arrowheads changing to filled circles?

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

I have seen the same thing just recently as well, I ended up putting a point(sketch point) in the location that I wanted the arrow head to go then put the leader point to the new point.

Updraft: tried ctrl+Q but, alas, no return of the arrowhead :(

CBL: The arrowheads change into filled circles. It's as if you picked up the point and moved it  JUST off of the line I pointed it at, placing it in the body of the object and therefore creating a filled circle. Interestingly/weirdly, it seems to be doing this mostly with fixings such as hex head bolts...

pdelnet: That might be a simple solution - I'll try it out! Getting mark-ups back times over is getting tiring!

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

(OP)
pdelnet: tried the point trick, but then suddenly realised that if I add a point and direct the balloon to that I will lose the BOM number from within the balloon.

As so often seems to be the case with SW, I've had to compromise... settings > doc. prop's > annotations and set all attachments to arrowheads. I lose the filled circles in the body of parts, but at least I don't have to keep going back and changing things all the time.

Thanks lads.

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

I'm getting something similar....in Document properties/arrows...I have it set to arrows for edge/face/unattached...but ''now'' ( I haven't changed anything), the face arrow keeps changing to a blob.

Everytime I change it back; it resets at the next session.

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

(OP)
Same here. I've set all to arrowheads, but now I have to take care to point them all at edges, not into the body of a part, as that gets noted and results in another mark up...

RE: Balloon arrow heads jumping to spots?!

hititfaster,

I just remembered something that might help.  Try selecting the drawing view, RMB to Lock View Focus before creating your balloons.  I've seen a few strange things happen when notes and other things are NOT associated with a view and they really should have been.  I've never had to resort to creating sketch points to snap an arrowhead to.
