ASTM A-70-39

ASTM A-70-39

ASTM A-70-39

(OP)
I have been looking for allowable stresses for an old vessel made from A-70-39 FB material.  I know this is a withdrawn spec, but I can't find any more information than it was superceded.

RE: ASTM A-70-39

I found this in an old out of print book;  Hoyt, Samuel L., Metal Data, Reinhold Publishing Co., copyright 1952, page 37

ASTM No.           YP(psi, min)  TS(Mpsi) %Elong-8"   C content
A-70  Firebox Gr B   0.5TS       48/58    1550000/TS  0.10~0.15

Hope this helps some.

RE: ASTM A-70-39

I have a 1952 ASME Boiler Code book that might have the allowable stresses, I will post back later.

RE: ASTM A-70-39

There are no allowable stresses in the 1952 code book. This material is not even listed.
