Section Views for Specific Components only?

Section Views for Specific Components only?

Section Views for Specific Components only?

(OP)
I have a quanset with some components inside of it, I would like to show a cut-away section so that I can see the components inside, but I don't want the section to cut through the stuff I have inside.

Is there a way to do it without going in to each part and making a "Cut" feature?

ie. Section view for select bodies/parts?

RE: Section Views for Specific Components only?

I assume you are talking about a drawing... If that is the case, you can edit the section view to exclude components.  This will leave the selected components un-cut.

If you are in an assembly and using the "display section cut" functionality... I don't believe there is a way to exclude components.

An "old skool" work around is to create an assembly cut.  Within the cut feature, you can select the components that you want the cut to work with.  In this case, parts not on the list will remain.

You can create an assembly configuration with parts you do not want to see suppressed or hidden, then do your section.

Hmm, not quite what I was hoping for.

It is a top level assembly, but I didn't want to do an assembly cut. But if that's the only way, then that's the only way.

Thanks guys

Slap it into a drawing and section until your heart is content... Then you can exclude whichever parts you want.  You can show shaded views in drawings.

That's actually a great idea. I read it in your first post, but it finally sunk in.
