Steel box girder per AASHTO LRFD
Steel box girder per AASHTO LRFD
(OP)
Hi,
I'm designing a steel box girder with orthotropic deck designed by AASHTO LRFD. This is firs time using AASHTO LRFD for me. I'm seeking some or any advice to start design. Is there any design guide or example explaining this type of bridge available?
The bridge is located in Korea but shall be designed per AASHTO LRFD.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You can download a curved box girder example using LRFD at:

AISC used to have - I don't know if it's still available - a manual for orthotropic design, but it's an old publication. They're not popular in the US. A lot of fatigue problems early on, which made people leary. However, the Williamsburg Bridge in NYC used this successfully for the deck replacement. However, a lot of testing was done during the design phase by Lehigh University to validate the design.
You could try calling FHWA; someone might be able to point you in the right direction.
