SW2011-Insert part into assy. Hitting enter doesnt work anymore?

SW2011-Insert part into assy. Hitting enter doesnt work anymore?

(OP)
I've just "upgraded" to 2011.  Within 10 minutes I've found an annoyance.  I usually insert parts into an assembly by clicking  them in the list of open parts, and hitting the enter key, which fixes the part at the assemblie's origin.  It doesnt work anymore.  Does anyone know how to enable that basic function, that has been there since dirt.

RE: SW2011-Insert part into assy. Hitting enter doesnt work anymore?

I hadn't noticed because I usually use the green check mark to complete the insert. But after some testing, I've found that the Enter key does work ... sometimes ... if it is hit twice ... sometimes.

Submit to your VAR as a regression or bug.

Yeah, I noticed that as well.  I keep mashing the enter key to no avail.

Bob, after clicking the part in the list, click the origin in the assembly window and the part will fix to the origin. And yes, I miss that too.

RE: SW2011-Insert part into assy. Hitting enter doesnt work anymore?

I submitted this to my VAR and they have responded with;

Quote (VAR):

I tested this behavior on my system using Solidworks 2011 service pack 2.0 and the enter key did not locate a part at the assembly origin. I then tested this issue using Solidworks 2010 service pack 5.0 and the behavior was identical; the enter key did not locate a part at the assembly origin.

What version of Solidworks were you using when you last used the enter key to locate a part at the assembly origin?

I'm pretty sure it was SW2010 (maybe even SW2011-SP0 or 1).
Can anyone still using SW2010 confirm the Enter key working for this.

I upgraded from 2010 sp 4.0.  And I just rechecked it, and yes it does insert the part at the origin.

2010 sp 4.0 - yep, it definately works here.  Just tried it.

RE: SW2011-Insert part into assy. Hitting enter doesnt work anymore?

Curiouser and curiouser!

Open a new assy
Select a part to insert so that it is highlighted in the Part/Assembly to Insert window
Click the white area of that window
Click the grey area around the Browse button
Click the Enter key and voila ... part is inserted at the origin.

CBL - is your tongue sticking out the left, or the right side of you mouth to make it work?

RE: SW2011-Insert part into assy. Hitting enter doesnt work anymore?

Correction ...

Just clicking inside the LH panel allows the Enter key to work as normal. But this makes it useless because by doing that you might as well click the green check mark.
