Hello I'm wondering if there's any possiblility to copy geometry to new part and in the new part keep the reference sets and PMI's from the original part?
I'm using NX 7.5.

Do you want to copy all geometry in a file or just portions?

It's a little tricky to explain but here's a try:
I want to copy everything from a number of parts (say a,b and c) into one single part(d) and d is going to be the "skeleton" for parts to come (e,f,g...)
The reference sets and PMIs are coming from a,b,c and I want them to be viewable in d. And I also want to be able to change the reference sets in d.
Since a,b and c might change in the future it would be nice if those changes automatically were added in d which in turn affects e,f,g...

File -> Export -> Part...
...and under 'Part Specification' if you select 'Existing' this will allow you to 'copy' any object which you select into the specified Part file. However, it appears that unless you're exporting from a Drawing, that only geometric objects are supported.
Of course, you could try doing the opposite, while in the 'new' Part file, go to...
File -> Import -> Part...
...and try bring your existing Part file INTO the new one.

Now I've tried export and import and it sure works on PMI's and inserted dimensions (drafting mode) but the big problem is that it's geometry doesn't get linked.
The only solution to this that I've found is to first "copy geometry to part" (a-->d) and then export the annotations from a-->d. However the export/import creates unneccesary geometry which I have to replace with the linked features. When this is done I use the "edit dimension associativity".
This works so far but it's a bit time consuming. However since I want to use part d as the base in e,f,g... I'd like to use "create linked part" but then again none of the PMIs or annotations follow and the procdedure has to be repeated.
Is there a way to keep associativity (on the geometry as well) in the import/export operation or can anyone find another solution?
