axis-symmetric model query

axis-symmetric model query

axis-symmetric model query

(OP)
Hi,
I am trying to calculate stresses and strains in the thin film deposited on substrate by ABAQUS and I am choosing axis-symmetric model.

I want to obtain the stress along the thickness of the model but the stress should be along the surface (means from the centre to the outer), can anyone tell me which is the one from the list?

1) Max. in-plane principal stress
2) Min. in-plane principal stress
3) Out in-plane principal stress
4) max. Principal stress
5) min. principal stress
6) out principal stress
7) S11
8) S22
9) S33
10) S12

Thanks in advance

RE: axis-symmetric model query

I'm not familiar with Abaqus, but what you probably want to do is show the stress in a different coordinate system than the default XYZ. Don't think you need to change the type of stress there, just start with a von mises.

Hi,
I am working on axis-symmetric model and so in my model there are three axis: Z, rotational and transverse.
Can anybody tell me from the following options which one is belong to which axis:

1) Max. in-plane principal stress
2) Min. in-plane principal stress
3) Out in-plane principal stress
4) max. Principal stress
5) min. principal stress
6) out principal stress
7) S11
8) S22
9) S33
10)S12

Thanks in advance

RE: axis-symmetric model query

Your attachements don't work. For 2D axisymmetric geometry S33 is the hoop direction, S22 axial, S11 radial.
