Assembly surface properties

(OP)
I have an assembled part that has been machined after welding.  How do I paint the new machined surfaces that do not appear in the raw individual parts?
(Inventor 2011)
Thanks

RE: Assembly surface properties

Hi mecram1.  I am looking for this answer as well, any luck?

RE: Assembly surface properties

Any reason why the part color wouldn't already match the painted version?  If you have overridden the color you would be seeing a mismatch but if kept the material color to match the painted that would most likely give you the result you are looking for.

RE: Assembly surface properties

For me, the color DOES match the painted version and that is where the problem lies.  I want to be able to machine a chamfer on an edge and have it show a cleaned up surface rather than a painted surface.  If the chamfered edge does not exist in the painted version, then it is (obviously) not available to paint it differently.  Also, if you want to color an assembly with different colors, you have to go into the original part.  I am also looking to color surfaces in assemblies different colors.
