I have an existing W18x35 which I am going to hang new 14K3 OWSJ onto the web.  The top of the new joists must be level with the top of the existing W18.  New joists are at 4' o.c.  Anyone have a good detail for doing that?

RE: OWSJ Hung On W18 Web

One detail which I have seen used is an end angle with vertical leg welded to the joist shoe and horizontal leg bearing on the top flange of the beam.  It means that the angle projects above the beam flange by its thickness, but the top of joist can be flush.

L8x8 seat/shelf bolted or welded to the web?

My initial thought was an L6x6 with stiffeners below each joist and an L2x2 on the other side of the beam up to existing roof joists to resist torsion.  Don't know if there are better ways to do this.
