Hey Guys I have a question about the acceptance limits according API 5LC.
For example for round indications there is a table with columnes
size   Adjacent size  Minimum Separation    Maximum Number in any 6 in/152,4 mm

first row is
size: 3,2 mm adjacent size: 3,2 mm Minimum Separation 50,8 mm Maximum Number: 2

My question...shouldn't be there a dependent on the wall thickness?
How should I read this?

RE: X-Ray API 5LC

Hi Mr andre,
So our interpretation is based on 6" length(any part) and the sum should not exceed 6.4mm see fig 7 for some examples of inclusion patterns with a sum of 6.4mm.

additon to the above criteria, the size and adjacent size must be considered by taking any 2 inclusions. Say 1.6 and 3.2(see second row) minimum seperation is given as 12.7mm. so if the distance measured between 3.2 and 1.6 is more than 12.7- accept & less than 12.7 reject.
The wall thickness is always >6.4mm for above interpretation.

consider note b: if wall thickness is less than equal 6.4 then  maximum discontinuity allowed is 2.4mm.

Take row 10:
if you find two indication each of 0.8 mm or less(say 0.4 and 0.8,0.4 and 0.4). then the distance between the two indications can be 0.8mm provided there is no any other indication within 12.7 mm distance of any of the two indications. If so the two indication must be seperated by 6.4mm to accept.

Thank you. Now it's a bit clearer.
Anyway I find it a bit strange to make the same criterias for wall thickness from 7 to 60 mm.
