Need help with the interpretation of formulas

Need help with the interpretation of formulas

Need help with the interpretation of formulas

(OP)
Hello, I'm trying to apply the ASME VIII div 2, and I'm having problems with the interpretation of this formula:

t=D/2(exp[P/SE]-1)

(Cylindrical shells under internal pressure)

I dont know what the exp part means:

t=(D/2)x10^[(P/SE)-1] ??
t=(D/2)x10^(P/SE)-1 ???

ty very much!

RE: Need help with the interpretation of formulas

It stands for the exponential function. The base is e (2.71828) in lieu of 10.
