Dimensions in a Detail View

Dimensions in a Detail View

Dimensions in a Detail View

(OP)
Hello All,
This has been asked once before (thread790-97325: Broken diameter dimensions.)and it recieved no replies, but I thought I would ask it again as I have need for an answer as well.
The question is regarding the placement of dimensions in an enlarged detail view. Actually rather than placement it is a question of is it possible and if so how.
The scenario is this; in an enlarged detail view taken from a section view of a circular part, is it possible to add diameter dimensions to implied geometry such as shown in the attached sketch?
If I am not mistaken this is possible in other software that I have used. I have searched for any information on this from within Inventor to no avail.

RE: Dimensions in a Detail View

I am really not that familiar with inventor so please don't take this as gospel but I think it is very unlikely that it would recognise this as a diameter.

Again only an educated guess but could you not use a text leader (or whatever Inventor calls them) and edit the text?

This of course would be a complete bodge as you could type in the wrong dimensions and it would not be linked to the model should you update those features, only you can decide if this is acceptable.

Thanks for the input. I will have to follow the link from my home as my company blocks access to the site. What I ended up doing was a kluge by adding a dimension to geometry in the view and then editing the value as well as the appearance. Actually when doing this I noticed an error in my model, so all in all things worked out well.
