Verifying load capacity of H-piles driven by vibratory Hammer

Verifying load capacity of H-piles driven by vibratory Hammer

Verifying load capacity of H-piles driven by vibratory Hammer

(OP)
I am looking at driving H-piles at a site that has a deep (~150') layer of loose silts before hitting hard pan clay.

I would like to use a pile driving analyzer to verify pile capacity, or at least get blow counts for the end bearing material, but my customer is leary of bringing any impact hammer on site at all due to cranky neighbors.  He wants only vibratory hammers used.

Any advice?

Using correlations for some dynamic continuous penetrometer?

The GRL-WEAP software has some guidelines for developing driving criteria with vibratory hammers.  However, it is generally very difficult to obtain reliable result with vibratory hammers (there are too many parameters to be accurate).  I suggest that an impact hammer be used to drive the last 2 feet so that the driving energy vs. penetration can be easily compared with PDA data.
