Making .dxf/.dwg files?

Making .dxf/.dwg files?

Making .dxf/.dwg files?

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I have a few parts which are essentially simple extrudes which I would like to send to a waterjet for manufacturing. Is there a way I save the drawing as a .dxf or .dwg file or do I have to use the DWG editor and redraw the parts?

RE: Making .dxf/.dwg files?

From the SolidWorks drawing go to File -> Save As.

There are many formats to choose.

Insert the part into a drawing and save as dxf/dwg.

RE: Making .dxf/.dwg files?

If they are sheet metal parts, DXF and DWG files can be created directly from the model ... depending on SW version.

RE: Making .dxf/.dwg files?

In SW2011 you do not need to create a sheetmetal part anymore to save a dxf/dwg from a sldprt.  I love that enhancement to saving out dxf/dwg.
