Parametric conversion from SolidWorks/SolidEdge to ProE
Parametric conversion from SolidWorks/SolidEdge to ProE
(OP)
Hello,
This may be a repeat question, but I am relatively new here.
We use a contract manufacturer that uses SolidWorks/SolidEdge whereas my company uses ProE. As part of design documentation requirement, complete part model data needs to be at my company location as well. This means that importing 'dumb' solids like *.stp or *.igs files isn't really an option. Looking around, there are firms that convert these, but for that an extensive non-disclosure agreement would be needed. Is there a direct software for purchase for this parametric conversion?
Ideally it would be a software that my company can get a seat(s) of and convert without sending out data.
Thanks

Thereom Solutions is the only company that I know of that may have a 'translator'. What they really do is decompose the original model and then build a new model in Wildfire based on the features that their software was been able to detect.

Of course, the critics will get all fired up about this... it's relatively new and is only a good starting point for basic geometry. I think it's part of SW2010 and beyond.

I don't think ProE has figured this one out yet. But here's hoping!

Apparently, if you have a valid licence of SW2009 (or earlier) and WF5, WF5 will import a SW part with features.
