Psv hydralulic expansion question
Psv hydralulic expansion question
(OP)
Dear Sirs
The psv is instaled on the cooling water supply side
, is any thermal expansion scenario analysis required? And which catagories is prefer in this case, (1). simple hydralulic expansion with a liduid only relief. (2) thermal expansion of a liquid with vaporization at relief case, (3) thermal exapnsion of a cpressible vapor
I think (2) is best because
the increase in water temp bring about a decrease in density and increase in pressure that may requre the provision for thermal relief.
Could you please give me any hint about how to analysis this scenario?
Thank you so much

RE: Psv hydralulic expansion question
This fluid on the other side of this HX is "Ammonia vapor" from the NH3 compressor discharge side, and this is the Ammonia vapor recovery system. The vapor flow rate is about 413 kg/hr and the ammonia vapor inlet pressure is about 2.19 barg and set pressure is 24.13 barg.
Note. the latent heat of vaporization is 2093.4 kJ/kg.
So, can we say this is (2) thermal expansion of a liquid with vaporization at relief case?
Thank you so much.
