Is there anyway of working with Solid Works files and maintaining associativity to the original file ?

I'm guessing not, seeing as they can't be added as a component.

Windows XP32

RE: Solid Works

For the last three or so releases I had been anticipating this.  If you notice you can open a SW part file in NX directly.  It comes in with a parasolid triangle icon feature in the part navigator.  Then if you right click on the feature and try and edit it you will get a notice that Interoperability is not "currently" supported.   Similarly if you go to File->Properties for this new NX part from an opened SW part you will see that only the Interoperability tab is missing when compared to the same dialog of an NX part for a Solid Edge source part.  Maybe in NX 8 we will get lucky...

A lot of the 'pieces' are in place, but it's not all wired together yet.

RE: Solid Works

One of my 'good' points when dealing with NX is they make sure all the connections are in place before turning the code over to the users. They may do things over 2 or 3 releases to get all working, but in the end it does work they way their users need it to. When dealing with PTC, they toss new functionsality and features out there and they aren't always connected to work in an easy and intuitive way.
