Code Requirement for Control Ground

Code Requirement for Control Ground

Code Requirement for Control Ground

(OP)
Hello,
I have an installation where shielded 18/2 cable was used to deliver 24V power to a control actuator.  The installer used the shield as the ground.

Is this code compliant?
If so, is it otherwise acceptable?

Thank you

RE: Code Requirement for Control Ground

Is your control circuit required to be grounded?  Many (possibly most) are not.  Typically, we might find isolated two-wire control circuits run exactly as you describe, with the shield grounded at one end only.

If you describe your circuit in much greater detail, you might get a more thorough answer...

Good on ya,

Goober Dave
