Small hydraulic valve requiring a CRN?

Small hydraulic valve requiring a CRN?

Small hydraulic valve requiring a CRN?

(OP)
I have received a requirement from our Sales Department to provide a CRN (for Alberta province)for a longstanding design of hydraulic needle valve. This is one of a range of valves with sizes up 1".

Do I need to follow the full B51 / ASME VIII route or is there an exemption that could help me out?

You posted this as an add-on in thread794-291688: Would CSA B51 cover a 1/4" air solenoid valve?????.  My response there was:  "Yes, but call ABSA."

IMO, it's always better to have a quotable source to go back to a customer/client.  I wouldn't accept an answer of "some anonymous person on the Internet told me it was ok."

RE: Small hydraulic valve requiring a CRN?

a valve will be easier than a PV. Alberta will check your design throughly.
but it is nothing to get scare of.  call them and ask for details. you will have to purchase their paper and it is not cheap for a small job but needed.
a solenoid valve goes as a fixture and has nothing to do with a PV.
