CE marking of low volage 1 to 5hp induction motors

(OP)
Dear gurus,
I would like to know exact applicable EC directives and corresponding harmonized standards for CE marking of the mentioned motors used in  air conditioners.. one Motor manufacturer said ( the same type as ours) in its AD that LVD only applied. Is it possible to test by ourselves for compliance with EN standards?
Please help me with this matter.. thank you

"Is it possible to test by ourselves for compliance with EN standards?"

No, not any more. Where the LVD applies, you need to cooperate with a certified test lab.
They will also tell you exactly which directives and standards apply.

Benta.

RE: CE marking of low volage 1 to 5hp induction motors

The LVD covers all electrical equipment (including electrical motors) operating in a range of 50 to 1000 Volts.  If the air conditioner motor is rated within that range LVD is applied.

Per the EC website (see link below):

CODE

In respect of conformity assessment, there is no third party intervention, as the manufacturer undertakes the conformity assessment. There are "Notified Bodies" which may be used to provide reports in response to a challenge by a national authority as to the conformity of the equipment.

In short, you do not need to use an external test lab for LVD conformance testing.  However, if you are not familiar with the standards it may make sense to use an external lab because they will know the tests that are required.
