Rotary Lobe Pumps

Rotary Lobe Pumps

Rotary Lobe Pumps

(OP)
Has anybody used rotary lobe pumps in DAF units as sump pumps? Or any oil recovery service similar to a DAF Unit? The orignal pump was a centrifugal pump with an uplift of 64.7 ft and it never worked. Ever since we use air pumps one at a time and we have 5 of them. We just replace them when they don't pump anymore and have them reoaired ($0.5k-$1.2k each). Any suggestion / recommendations based on experience?

RE: Rotary Lobe Pumps

As long as the air pumps work and as long as their energy consumption is acceptable for you, keep them. They are rather cheap as you wrote and not the worst choice.

Rotary lobe pumps get problems when pumping fibres (hair) as those fibres can wrap around to lobes. And they need a dry running protection.
