Model Tree Column Chaos
Model Tree Column Chaos
(OP)
Hello ProE Gurus,
I have an issue with the ProE model tree that has plagued me for years. I know that I can control the overall width of the entire model tree window through customization settings, but how can I control the column width that houses the actual model feature tree?
As one can see from the image below the almighty and powerful ProE has provided me with ample amounts of non-value-add white space, while minimizing the visible area of the feature tree.
I remember this being an issue since my start on ProE 20, but a recent user has revived this issue and so I thought I would take it on again. I spent hours trying everything I could think of to resolve this. The only thing that worked was just to remove the Feature Number and Feature ID columns altogether (not ideal).
So being completely tapped out of ideas I turn to the forum for help.
Thanks,
Steve

RE: Model Tree Column Chaos
mapkey rt @MAPKEY_LABELResize Model Tree;\
mapkey(continued) ~ Move `main_dlg_cur` `PHTLeft.AssyTree`80;
Obviously, this is too trivial a problem for the great minds at PTC since they never actually have use the software.
RE: Model Tree Column Chaos
I guess if I re-up my maintenance on Pro/Make-Model-Tree-Work-Right this wouldn't be an issue.
Thanks again dgallup.

RE: Model Tree Column Chaos
I have a the same model tree as shown above & I don't have an issue within 4.0. I'm still new to ProE, but I believe it can be controlled within our Configuration setting somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

Tools > Customize > Navigation Tabs
If you display the Model Tree as a separate window and you can size the tree to your hearts content. The thing that always annoyed me is that the min width setting for individual columns is 3 then it cycles back to 300 max.
If you save your Settings to a tree config file "*.cfg" you can edit the column widths and set them to 1 or 2. You can load these settings by selecting
Settings > Open Settings File
When ModelTree is attached.
Or
File > Open Settings
When ModelTree is a separate window.
Filename="_tree-NO.FID.cfg"
COLUMN "Info" "Feat #" 1
COLUMN "Info" "Feat ID" 1
SUPPRESSED ON
EXCLUDED ON
FEATURES ON
NOTES OFF
BLANKED ON
INCOMPLETE ON
Dan's Tip of the mapkey for sizing is nice. I love that PTC's trailfile data shows exactly what's going on in a session and can be saved and applied as needed in a mapkey.
PTC forcing maintenance on customers is injustice on a grand scale. It's similar to cell phone company's early termination fees. Other software companies just charge a penalty if a company skips maintenance and then gets back on. If a company does not update versions because they are not using them for production they should be allowed to pay for updates with maintenance when and if they choose to.
It will be nice to see CreO on a Mac supported version. When and if that comes to be. Hopefully PTC will carefully consider their customers wants and needs and deliver easier to use products.

RE: Model Tree Column Chaos
The question pertains to conrolling the width of the first column that contains the feature tree.
