Inventor Sheet Metal

Inventor Sheet Metal

RE: Inventor Sheet Metal

What version of Inventor do you have?
How is this feature made in real life?
Do you need to generate a flat pattern?

RE: Inventor Sheet Metal

Hi. I`m using Inventor 2011, and it`s not yet made in real life. I just want to know if that is possible to be done in inventor, or i have to add that edge as an weldment or other thing. Thank you.

RE: Inventor Sheet Metal

Just model it using part features.. Forget that it's "supposed" to be a sheet metal part. Then if you want (but there is no need) you simply convert it to a sheet metal part and set the correct thickness.. But it won't flatten so there is really no need to do it in sheet metal.

But i need to flatten, because i need the initial lenght of the table, that`s the point. The problem is that it flattens well, except that edge there which i don`t know how to make it flatten, to show the dimension.

RE: Inventor Sheet Metal

Inventor cannot flatten anything that isn't make with a press brake or roll forming machine. That feature would typically be made in a stamping press. So Inventor cannot flatten it.
Not to mention if you were to really make that part in real life you wouldn't need the flat pattern length anyways.
Maybe I'm not understanding what you want to make but I don't think that is the case.

I want to do the exteriour part of a plane window, or helicopter window, but i want to add an edge to the part where the glass comes on the table. I don`t know what operations i need to apply or anything else, i was thinking it`s easier to do so.
