Calculation Assistance

(OP)
I have been having an issue trying to make the correct magnet selection for a switch application.  I have a certain reed switch that I have selected.  I am having trouble trying to determine the Gauss value of a corresponding magnet required to activate the switch and the distance at which it will activate.  Help please.

RE: Calculation Assistance

There is no straightforward method and you've provided no details for anyone to run a calculation.

Your best bet is to contact a reputable magnet supplier and describe the reed switch, its rating, distances, other relevant parameters.

RE: Calculation Assistance

I think you might be better off contacting the reed switch manufacture and ask them to recommend the magnet given you distance requirements.
