208v electrical heater works fine in 240v?

208v electrical heater works fine in 240v?

208v electrical heater works fine in 240v?

(OP)
i have a dayton 2yu74 electrical heater, in the plate said 15Kw,  60 Hz, control voltage 24v, 208V, 1/3 fase.
could this unit works fine if is connected to 240 v?

RE: 208v electrical heater works fine in 240v?

You run a good chance of burning it out if you connect it to 240 V.  The current will increase by the voltage ratio.  It will probably work for a while but I wouldn't do it.

I think not!  Especially when they actually sell 240 volt models and 208/240v models.   The heat will increase with the square of the voltage increase.  That means a bunch of little wires will be heating up much more.  The air will be hotter and possibly the safety sensors will also think the air flow is partially blocked.

Thakn you guys for yours answer.
That is exactly what happend, the owner of the place call me to fix his heater, after changing the fuse, the heater is still no working, so i found that the transformer for the control voltage is burn, i replaced it and after work for a minute, the transformer is burn again,  then i check the plate and i saw the current voltage, now the unit is burn.

The motor is probably 200 Volt or 208 Volt rated. On 240 Volts, it may also fail soon.
