Have you built house with concrete walls and roof?  I am looking at a house of approximately 60X60' with 10-14' poured concrete walls constructed with high density foam insulation in the middle. This would take two pours and rebar enforcement.

The roof would be concrete and reinforcement with foam insulation either sandwiched between top and bottom layer of concrete or wood/asphalt shingles foam insulation and concrete. I would need X number of metal beams running the length of the roof to support the concrete.

In Germany it is standard practice to construct external walls of houses with (from inside to outside):
-light internal plaster finish
-hollow concrete block
-expanded polystyrene insulation
-sand cement plaster (render) with light plastic mesh reinforcement
-coloured outer plaster coat with textured surface.

Ground and upper floors are constructed of reinforced concrete with insulation and a reinforced screed that is power float finished to allow direct laying of carpet or high quality timber finishes.

The thickness and rebar in teh concrete will obviously depend on the span of the floor.
The strength of teh concrete blocks will depend on the loads applied which again depends on the span of teh floor.
the insulation will be defined by your local building codes.
You need to ask a local engineer for assistance with these decisions.

Such construction is economical if you are building a house that you hope to last for 100 years plus and will hand on to future generations.  Great for Europe, but I don't belive that is the USA philosophy.
Am I wrong??

Happy building
