Solid Edge ASCII codes problem on Win7 64bit machine

Solid Edge ASCII codes problem on Win7 64bit machine

Solid Edge ASCII codes problem on Win7 64bit machine

(OP)
Hi,

I have a problem typing in the "Phi" symbol using the ASCII shorcuts.

This started to happen ever since a switched to win7 pro 64bit.
I use "±" - ALT+0177; "°"- ALT+0176 and ALT+0248 for the greek "Phi", but in this case it doesnt work ... it types in an empty square.

Any clues in what could be the problem?

Thank you!

Try alt+0216

bc.
2.4GHz Core2 Quad, 4GB RAM,
Quadro FX4600.

Where would we be without sat-nav?

I still get the square ... :(

It has to be something to do with windows 7 64bit. I have it running perfectly on windows XP.

I posted this problem also on a windows 7 forum and I'm still waiting for a response from them.

RE: Solid Edge ASCII codes problem on Win7 64bit machine

Do you have the right font? Are you on a release of SE that supports windows 7?

Does it work in another program like Word? If you cut and paste from Word what do you get in SE?

I am using a version that works on win7 x64.
Yes, it works in OpenOffice writer, but if I copy-paste it then it writes "Standard?" instead of the "PHI" symbol.

What do you mean by "right font" ?

Thanks for the reply :)

RE: Solid Edge ASCII codes problem on Win7 64bit machine

SE may not be using the same font as open office. Try changing the font in SE and see if you get what you want. Also try an Microsoft program.

Read through the help files. There are different levels of support for unicode and 32 bit characters in different releases of SE. This is something they have been trying to improve.

Thanks!

I got a simillar response on a Win7 forum just 2 minutes ago :))
I'll have to check the "fonts" thing .. see how it turns out :)

So after trying the ALT+0248 in notepad I got the PHI symbol ... copy-pasted it in SE and it works ...

I tryed changing the SE font to Arial ... now I get a strange "r" ... then tried Times New Roman ... same thing ...

Can I load the exact Notepad Arial font into SE ? Would this solve my problem? :)

RE: Solid Edge ASCII codes problem on Win7 64bit machine

As far as I know SE uses the standard windows fonts so it should be picking them up from there.

bc.
2.4GHz Core2 Quad, 4GB RAM,
Quadro FX4600.
