Changing material of imported SAT

Changing material of imported SAT

Changing material of imported SAT

(OP)
Is it possible to change the material or at least the color of an imported SAT file? The only material option in the iProperties is "Default". Anyone have a workaround for this? I am running Inventor 2011 Routed Systems.

Thanks, Mike

RE: Changing material of imported SAT

Yes it is possible.
What template and ipj settings are you using?

You can also import if your settings for template or ipj are such that colors or materials are not in the file.

I'm not sure I understand. In the Projects manager, all of the styles and templates are default. If I import a SAT part, will it use the part.ipt template? Even if this is the case, the template has the full range of materials and colors.

It seems as though the color is locked, regardless of where I try to change it: body, face, etc.

RE: Changing material of imported SAT

Do you see a list of additional materials or colors?

There is a Strip Overrides, but this doesn't sound like your problem.
Sounds to me like you are not pointing to your Styles library.
Can you attach the original *.sat file and the resulting ipt file here?  It will be much faster to solve the problem with actual files.

As I was posting the ipt I realized you were dead on. I had made "Use style library = no" because it was fighting with the lighting settings I had in my templates. After changing that, all of the materials and colors are available. Now I just need fix the lighting in the style library. Thank you very much for your help!
