Windsor Probe Testing

Windsor Probe Testing

(OP)
Has anyone ever had an issue performing the Windsor Probe system where one of the probes in the triangle plate went too deep. What could cause something like this? All other samples worked out ok, just one area where I could not get a reading. Lightweight Concrete 3000 psi design, gold probes used on Moh's #3, used correction factor just curious if anyone has ever seen this before.

I say operator error on my part. What do you think?

RE: Windsor Probe Testing

If only one probe went too deep, I would suspect a soft spot or void in concrete.  I used to measure the sets of 3 and each individual. It gave me a real good feeling as too the consistency or not of the tests.

RE: Windsor Probe Testing

Agree with emmgjld...probably a void or a soft aggregate particle.

Windsor probe is subject to surface irregularities and near-surface irregularities, including voids, soft aggregate, bleeding, etc.

When you encounter such, move over a few inches and repeat the series.

RE: Windsor Probe Testing

Is some one know any NDT method to test Grout strength for masonry? I am looking to find some economical option to test. The grout was never tested at the time of construction

Thanks to all
