C1008 vs. stainless steel

C1008 vs. stainless steel

C1008 vs. stainless steel

(OP)
Hi everyone,

My company is working on a chain program and we are requesting stainless steel.  The Chinese supplier is coming back with C1008 as the material.  Is C1008 and stainless the same?  I've searched the web with some conflicting results.  It seems the answer is no but I am hoping someone who knows can advise me.

Thanks in advance!
Pat

RE: C1008 vs. stainless steel

Assuming C1008 means AISI 1008, it is about the cheapest steel you can get; and no comparison to any SS that I can think of , except density.
