Hertz contact SUBSTRUCTURE

Hertz contact SUBSTRUCTURE

Hertz contact SUBSTRUCTURE

(OP)
Hi

by reading abaqus documentation, i've understand that hertz contacts are suitable of substructuring: what isn't clear for me, is how i can define the substructure in the case of a roller bearing.
i.e Should i "break" the inner ring, removing the "contact zone" and leaving only the part not affected by contact on rolling? And if it is, than i've to merge this superelement with the contact zones? But, how?

It's really not clear how can i use this analisis tecnique in a model where all parts (inner/outer ring, rolling) are in contact each other.

Maybe abaqus documentation wanna say that, i.e., it could be usefull if i've a bearing with some other element (like a shaft or something else) ?

Do u have any information/lecture to suggest me?
