Stack inversion alarm

Stack inversion alarm

Stack inversion alarm

(OP)
I have been asked to improve the stack alarm that indicates when inversion of the stack is occurring as it frequently alarms when an inversion is not taking place. The current alarm is based on a certain wind direction, a wind speed of less than 5mph, a low steam flowrate to the stack and the unit fan having stopped.

What other factors can be monitored?

Installation of a fan in the stack itself has been rejected on cost terms, the height of the stack cannot be modified. If inversion is seen the warning should prompt operations to increase steam flowrate to the stack (via temp and flow controllers).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
