ABAQUS6.10-1 simulations using an Element User Subroutine (VUEL)

(OP)
Hi:
I am running ABAQUS simulations using an Element User Subroutine (VUEL).
I am using ABAQUS 6.10-1 on a 64 bit machine.
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate (http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/visual-studio-2010-launch?WT.srch=1&;WT.srch=1) and Intel® Visual Fortran Composer XE for Windows* (formerly Intel® Visual Fortran Compiler Professional Edition for Windows*) (https://registrationcenter.intel.com/RegCenter/RegisterSNInfo.aspx?dnld=t&SN=VT2K-9ZZ84XTW&EmailID=andreamenca%40libero.it&Sequence=1159088)
For both software, I am using the trial versions which are available on the Microsoft and Intel websites).
My question is: is it possible to use free software to be able to run the user subroutine, something like Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition and a GNU compiler for Fortran?
Thank you very much.
Andrea.
