Part families and Reuse library select options

Part families and Reuse library select options

Part families and Reuse library select options

(OP)

I've created the template file of my model. There are 30 different versions of my template with unique part numbers that I deal with using part families and Reuse library. When I create the KRX file for use in Reuse library, I choose that users can browse all 30 articles by part number. But let say I only have 15 articles in stock. Is it then possible to display all 30 articles but only let the user be able to choose between the 15 articles in stock? I want the 15 articles that are NOT in stock to be "greyed out".

I use NX 7.5.

Cheers

RE: Part families and Reuse library select options

I don't think you can do that.  If you truly don't want anyone to EVER use those 15 non-approved versions, just remove them from the master part family template file.

Ok my idea was that users should use the articles that are in stock in the first place. And if only necessary I order articles that are not in stock. I forgot to say that I'm working with standard parts comming from different manufacturers.

But then I have to figure of something else. Thank you.

RE: Part families and Reuse library select options

Well you could add an attribute which would indicate which parts are preferred or not.  A second possibility might be to break this up into TWO part families and simply make the preferred set easy to get to or flagged in same way to indicate that while the non-preferred gets 2nd-class treament.

Two really good suggestions. Thank you for your feedback!

RE: Part families and Reuse library select options

Just one question: how to create KRX files?

Thanks.

After creating your part family with selected expressions, attributes etc. you save or copy your template file to a Reuse library directory. Go to Reuse library and refresh (if necessary) the folder where you saved your template and it should show up.

Then you right click your template and choose "Create KRX file". Now you can choose the parameters from your part family that you want to use.

Best of luck
