UCS-56 item (d)(2)

UCS-56 item (d)(2)

UCS-56 item (d)(2)

(OP)
Hello!
Item (d)(2) of UCS-56 says During the heating period there shall not be a greater variation in temperature throughout the portion of the vessel being heated than 250°F
(120°C) within any 15 ft (4.6 m) interval of length.
I wonder if the code refers to 4.6 meters long welding or the equipment itself.
Thanks!

RE: UCS-56 item (d)(2)

I believe it applies to the soak band as defined in UW-40(a).

RE: UCS-56 item (d)(2)

it refers to the welded area whether is a soak band or a complete vessel in a furnace. it shall not exceed those parameters.
