cleaning of flux residue of SAC305

(OP)
Hi,

Does anyone know of an effective method to clean the flux residue of a SAC305 solder joint? I need to totally remove the residue in order to ensure no delamination effect of the silicone rubber layer and the solder joint.

Thank you!

Best regards,
ct

Generally the flux manufacturer is your best source for this.

Thomas J. Walz
Carbide Processors, Inc.

Good engineering starts with a Grainger Catalog.

i agree with tomwalz to contact your flux manufacturer for specifics.  A quick method to try is using  Anhydrous Isopropyl Alcohol. On some fluxing material you might try diluting is to about 90%

Here a link to one of many companies that supply the flux and a cleaner.  For testing you may want to look at their soldering masks.

Vapor degreasing with an appropriate solvent would be a very efficient process.
