What is a min and centirad?

What is a min and centirad?

What is a min and centirad?

(OP)
Hi

I have come across the error for a Class TPX CT being given as ratio error % = 0.5, min = +/-30, centirad = +/-0.9.

Could someone please enlighten me as to what is a min (I presume minute?) and centiradian please? Is it 10 radians? Since it refers to phase angle error I presume degrees or radians are the reference?

Thanks.

RE: What is a min and centirad?

Correct on min - one minute of arc. A centiradian is 1/10th of one radian.

Hi Scotty

What is a 1 minute of arc? I am pretty clueless as to what it means. Thanks for clarifying the centiradians bit.

Thanks.

RE: What is a min and centirad?

Wouldnt one tenth of a radian be a deciradian? And one hundredth be a centiradian?

One minute of arc is a sixtieth of a degree.

What do you think google is for?

RE: What is a min and centirad?

One minute of arc is one 1/60th of one degree. There's a further unit of measurement called the second of arc, which is one 1/60th of one minute of arc.

More recently the units have been also known as the arc-minute and the arc-second.

RE: What is a min and centirad?

With a radian being about 57 degrees, a centiradian would be 0.57 degrees. 0.9 centiradians would be about 0.5 degrees, or 30 arc-minutes.

Still sounds like a mixed unit to me. Just like KCMILs which I still don't like using on a drawing.  Isn't K.C.Mils a country singer?

RE: What is a min and centirad?

Skogs,

Yes, you are correct as usual!
