b16 flange repair

b16 flange repair

b16 flange repair

(OP)
we have 2 2"rfwn flg's that are damaged one on the flange face and one on the hub. can these be repaired by welding and if so where do i find the correct codes, standards.

RE: b16 flange repair

Test for cracks after grinding out the damaged areas.
Weld with 70-series filler and Preheat per a qualified WPS
Machine down the gasket face and make certain that the finish is approx RA250.

RE: b16 flange repair

Go to the appropiate B16.xx reference for flanges, and read it. Usually, ASME Section VIII, Div 1 is referenced for welding requirements in specifications for fittings.

RE: b16 flange repair

Not sure about the one with the damaged hub, but one with the bad face ...by the time you cut it off, weld, re-machine the face, and re-attach the flange  ...you'll find it cheaper to just buy a new one!
