Steel beams are undergoing a first coat application of a zinc based primers.  What are some effective ways of controlling fugitive emissions of organic vapors ladden with zinc fine particles.
Thermoxidizers were not recommended by their distributors.

RE: Overspray of zinc based primers

Overspray control devices that are generally used consist of fabric filters or water walls. These generate either used filters or wastewater from air scrubbing systems.

The amount of pollutants derived from the over-spray of coatings can be reduced by using coatings that contain less of a pollutant of concern and/or by increasing the transfer efficiency (thereby decreasing over-spray) of the coating process.

Airless sprayers can be used as these typically have higher production rates, use less coating to achieve the same thickness, and generate less over-spray.
