Converted entities aren't constrained

Converted entities aren't constrained

Converted entities aren't constrained

(OP)
I've been having a problem with converted entities in an assembly not being constrained. Instead of being black, they're blue and I cannot figure out what's causing it or how to correct it. Thanks for any help.

Problem solved - 'Do not create references external to the model' wasn't checked on in the External References" area on the System Options tab.

That creates another issue - It seems like some of these options change by themselves. How is that prevented?

RE: Converted entities aren't constrained

Congrats on solving the problem yourself.
These options do not change themselves. It may have already been that way, but you never noticed.

Actually Chris, there was a recent case where a setting was  changed when an IGS(?) file was imported. I don't remember the specifics.

Importing an IGS file unchecks the "Dynamic hightlight from graphics view" setting.  (It's done that as far back as 2006).  So the settings do indeed change themselves.

RE: Converted entities aren't constrained

I would still be careful with convert entities or intersection curves.  They show up as BLACK however you can still drag the end points!  Below is a sketch of a line 10mm long then another sketch with the line converted.  I then dragged the end point.  Typically I will place a coincident relationship.  If the curve is created from a surface or face I pierce it to the original geometry.

I hope this helps.
